A former fiction editor, Bev Katz Rosenbaum is also a published author herself, of the popular young adult novels I Was a Teenage Popsicle and Beyond Cool (both recently optioned for film and television), in addition to several romance novels. Bev is a regular magazine contributor on the topic of writing and creator of the critically acclaimed literary 'zine' Slush. She has conducted writing seminars at colleges and conferences all across North America. Bev specializes in literary and commercial fiction, and has evaluated manuscripts for publishing companies, literary agents and both aspiring and published writers. Many of her aspiring writer clients have gone on to obtain literary agents and publishing contracts.
Service and Fees
Detailed evaluation of material, focusing on substantive elements, but also including comments on format and grammar. Report of three to ten pages sent by e-mail within four weeks.
First three chapters: $150.00
Complete manuscript up to 70,000 words: $200.00
Complete manuscript between 70,000 words and 100,000 words: $250.00
Complete manuscript between 100,000 words and 150,000 words: $300.00
Evaluation of revised material at half the original fee (there is no time limit on this offer)

Payment must be confirmed before evaluation is undertaken. Your manuscript must be submitted in Microsoft Word format as an e-mail attachment. Your query letter and/or synopsis should be sent at the same time as your manuscript.
Please note that line editing will only be undertaken on manuscripts that have been revised in accordance with at least one BKR critique. (There is absolutely no point doing a line edit until major problems with plot, character, etc. have been taken care of.) Please note that after a detailed BKR critique, a line edit is not usually necessary, but if an author insists, one can be done for a fee of $25.00 per hour. It usually takes five to eight six-hour days to line edit a manuscript.
